My tank has gotten really cloudy overnight!
What could be the cause of this?
My pH is fine, so are my other readings and the temperature is around 20 degrees.
I'm scared the cloudyness will make my new axolotl sick :(

Hi Stef,

Do you use pellets to feed your axolotl? Uneaten pellets can cause cloudy water.

Wastes in the water such as poop and leftover food if not removed by dilligent spot cleaning will also cloud the water.

If there is no lid on the tank room dust can fall in the water and may contribute to slight cloudiness as well.

The filter may be clogged. I would take it out and give the filter sponges a shake in a bucket of the tank water.

Dust ey..? That's possible because it's been really windy around here and dirt has been flying all over the place outside.
Thanks for the advice I'll do a 50% water change as Audrey suggested and I'll make sure there are no poops or uneaten food in there.
