I just rescued a CFBN from a Walmart where someone had put it in a tank with Pacu's and Oscars. He is pretty beat up with legs/feet missing, part of his tail gone and a chunk missing at the base of his tail. All of the wounds are fresh. What do I need to do to save him? What is a good way to house him and treat the wounds?

No need to reply to this post. The little guy didn't make it through the night. I had him in a small carrier with wet plain white paper towel in the bottom and had dabbed his wounds with a q-tip dampened with Bactine. I believe he was just too traumatized to survive.

Poor little guy. I can't believe they let him suffer like that in Walmart. It is wonderful that you did rescue him and did what you could.

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
