Help!

Norbert is swimming eractically, i dont know if hes eaten a small snail and its stuck, i dont know what to do, hes freaking out and thrashing around, anyone have any suggestions, should i remove him from the tank and put him in a tub? Please help, really worried about him

Video of Norbert, his no longer thrashing or acting erractic but hes not using his front left leg properly and just isnt himself, does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? Hes not interested in his food either, I really cant bare to lose another one.

Just an update, his still acting confused, but moving his front legs better. He definately didnt eat a snail or anything like that, I thought he might've as after his maasive freak out of darting around the tank and bumping into everything he starting moving his mouth in a strange way, like yawning but not, he then was acting very confused, like he didnt know how to move around properly and just in general not himself, hes in the fridge for the time being, he still seems confused so im not sure if he concussed himself or has damaged a nerve as his not moving around properly and wont settle.

Hes freak out lasted a minute or so but he hasnt been right since :/

Can axies sometimes have freak outs? Is that normal behaviour? Lottie is fine and is happily hunting on shrimp.

Axies can have their mad moments. Mine occasionally do, maybe he was startled by something? I would keep an eye on him for any further changes. When you decide its a good time to remove him from the fridge, do make sure you acclimatise the water first before returning him to the tank.

How long should I fridge him for? Should I keep him in there until he seems better? Oh definately, I dont want to cause him any more stress, i really hope he does get better. I've changed his water over for the night and will put some more dechlorinated water in the fridge before i head to bed tonight for the morning change if its needed, hes still not moving properly but he did snap at one of the shrimp so im hoping thats a small sign of improvement.

He seems better, hes not moving himself back and foruth anymore but is moving really slowly, i think from the cold temp of the fridge? Im going to let him warm up out of the fridge and see how he is then, fingers crossed my little guy is all better

If you're going to fridge him, it's best to do it for a couple of days. Sudden swings in temperature can be stressful.

Oh no i didnt realise, i left him out the half the day to warm up as he was moving his legs again but he is quite lethargic, I assumed from the coldness of the fridge but hes still lethargic in the tank, could this be from me stressing him by taking him out of the fridge too early? I think he pooed in the tub as there was a sandy dust pile but he still hasnt eaten, his slowly moving around the tank, then chilling in one spot for hours, then moving on a little further to just chill again (he seems to be moving around a bit more now), his flicking his gills quite a bit but ive seen him do that before and the filaments are bright red but hes not active and doesnt seem to be hunting. He doesnt doesnt have any signs of fungus growig. Could the lethargy also be from him still feeling a bit sore? We have ghost shrimp in the tank but we will offer him a worm a see if he takes it. Fingers crossed he perks up, im so scared about losing another one Also my husband wondered if he's fracture of broken any bones as he does look a bit off, i will take a picture and upload, maybe its just us worrying but i'd like peoples opinions.

Does Norbert look like his in a normal posistion, something just looks off to us, unless we are being overly paranoid due to the bumps he gave himself?

Hes not moved from the above position for some time now im so scared, was searching through posts and read a few where axies sadly passed away after acting lethargic I hope he gets better, i dont know what else i can do for him, he usually comes to say hi when i wave at the glass and spends most of his time swimming but he just looks so depressed :'(

Too much activity in adult axolotls can be a sign of stress. It's common for them to just lay in one spot and not do nothing. To me, he looks fine.

He's usually floating around the top of the tank or playing in the bubbles, hes moving around a lot more today so im hoping it was from being in the fridge and it just took him a little while to get bck to normal, we're going to try feeding him a worm now as he's hunting for shrimp but i want to make sure he eats, thank you for the reply I was so scared about losing another one i think i was overreacting over everything!
