I live in the smoky mountains and go on alot of herping trips for all kinds of amphibians and reptiles. I was wandering if anyone knew of any little known spots in the southern appalachian mountains i could check out. Also if you would like I could get some photos from the trips. thanks

well I live in Belgium but have been herping in the Appalachians this spring and enjoyed it alot. I would love to see some pictures of your successes especially if oyu find anything looking like slimy salamanders out there, since I was surprised by the variety of this group of species over the length of the trip we made (Virginia, Tennessee, Carolina and even Georgia)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
