Haven't had much luck this year herping as it was a really dry summer, lots of snakes but few amphibians. If anybody knows of any good places around southern B.C. I'd love to get out there again before it gets too cold. I've got a car and I don't mind driving to Northern Washington either. B.C. Herpers get back to me, thanks!!

What are you looking for? The north shore has rough skin newts, western redbacked salamanders, Ensantina, red leg frogs, tailed frogs (only found tadpoles so far), long toe salamanders (only ever found one juvenile in Rice Lake).

I've found nearly all of B.C.s herpetofauna save for a few species. I was hoping to find pacific giants but really I'm happy finding species I've already witnessed but in new environments.

I haven't been out looking for Pacific giants, but have been told they can be found out chilliwack way and cultus lake area.
I found 4 western red backs and 2 Ensantina the other day in Lynn valley not for from the twin falls area. I found 4 red backs the week before also in the same area. I have seen rough skins and long toes in rice lake and red leg ju eniles in the surrounding area as well as Ensantina. There are northwestern salamanders in the ponds up Cypress. I also know a few sites for tailed frog tadpoles.

That's great to know, I'm in that area and will have to go check out the places you've mentioned. It would be nice to see them in their natural habitats. Do you have any pictures?
