Herping in Virginia

I'm just giving you a hard time Kaysie, there was no way that I could have went. I would definitely be up for a spring trip. If you guys wanted to travel about 40 miles further south I know of a few good spots around here. Perhaps we could even find the elusive Pulaski County yonahlossee. Regarding, the Desmognathus ID, I was referring to the ones that I have found around here, although they do look very much like the ones pictured in this thread.

I live in Virginia too. Today I saw some Eastern Newts mating in the water at a park. They were in amplexus. I was very surprised because I was not even looking for amphibians!

Well thought I would give an update on the A. opacum eggs. I went to check on them today and the mother was still no where to be found. There were only 11 eggs left, 2 were dessicated and the remaining 9 were still viable. So hopefully some will make it but I seriously doubt it.

I hope they will. There's hope yet. Especially if they haven't been eaten by anything.

They do that. A LOT! The males are pretty voracious when it comes to their women.

Wow, those are some amazing photo's. I wish I could visit there!
