I stalked this forum unknowingly (google search links!) for many moons before finally joining after acquiring three little axolotls after even more moons of wanting one! My fix was heading to one of the two zoos in the South Florida area and staring at them for ages!

Currently have three little axolotls that send me into a panic on a near daily basis, and three frogs (two African dwarf and a Red Eye Tree Frog)! Definitely an amphibian household!

It's great to finally be a part of this place! :)

Welcome to the forum!

I too am from south Florida (Miami)! I've also been wanting to get an axie for my students; the color variations and cheerful faces they have are always really neat to look at!

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
