Hi all I just thought I'd take time out to introduce myself I'm male 50 year old from Derbyshire England.
and I'd like to thank everyone on this site as I have been looking up about axolotl's for the past two week and found this site very helpful and finally bought an albino one yesterday about 5 inch long.and the children called it Benji . Up to now I have fed him or her prawn and muscle but with not having any thing like this before, I'm not realy sure how much to feed him. and whats this blowing sand (substrate) all about

Welcome. Prawn and muscle are not a complete diet. I recommend you ask questions in the axolotl area of the forum. More likely to be seen and answered there.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
