Hey folks, I just discovered the axolotls salamanders and hope to buy one as soon as my money ship comes in. I have a white subadult beardie, a yellow adult beardie, and a leopard gecko currently, as far as the reptiles go. I also have a Sheltie and a mutt pup. I live in the US(east coast to be exact).:D

Welcome to the forum!

Welcome to caudata.org. I think you are in good company if you like axolotls lol. Seems to be one of the most popular amphibians around here.

I also hope to own one someday as well. For now I am content with my C. orientalis though.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
