Just wanted to say hello, I'm from Alberta, Canada. Um, I particularly like salamanders, but love any amphibians and think they're awesome (even if my family thinks they're icky, I can't imagine why? lol). I've bred boreal chorus frogs from eggs to adults, but really want a tiger salamander or axolotl. Would anyone like to chat about owning either one?

The only amphibs I own right now are two African dwarf frogs mixed in with 3 tetras, 2 danios, and 2 little bottom cleaners I can't remember the name of. They're cool, but still not as good as a sal, sigh. I've been coming to this site for a while, and decided to finally join you all. I feel it'll be nice to talk with people who share the same interests.

Welcome to the forum! There is LOTS of information if you search around on owning either of those species.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
