hi,we are from birmingham uk,and got 2 chinese fire bellied newts 2 weeks ago.they are my 5 yr old sons but im the primary care giver:talker:.
i was told to put them in with my tropical fish but luckily i looked online before i did and found they like cool still water.i didnt put in a filter to keep the water still and when i went to clean the tank today i spotted eggs:eek:.so i have just bought a new tank and filter which i will but pebbles round to restrict flow and i will have to carefully transfer the plant with the eggs on and hope they are ok.i figured it would be better to have a filter than to keep disturbing the eggs to clean the tank unless anyone can give me better advice?
cheers.x

A warm welcome to the forum :) . sorry i cant help but i dont know anything on fire bellied newts. However im pretty sure there are plenty of other fire bellied newt owners around to help you!

my only advice is to maintain a good clean body of water for them and to disturb them as little as possible though im sue theres people here that will have much more specific advice to give you.

Start by reading this:
http://www.caudata.org/cc/articles/raising.shtml
and for general advice about the newts (and setups and filters, etc etc), read the FAQ and other articles on that site.

What you are doing so far sounds fine. Be sure to do frequent partial water changes.
