At the moment, for my axolotl, I use a hollowed-out log thing which is fine, but algae gets in the crevices and it's quite old and tatty now, so does anyone have any suggestions for a new hide/cover/shelter?
Just remember to smooth the edges if you use terracotta pots.
Large PVC pipe is also something I've seen used.
I personally have a few big 'rock' hides in my tank from the pet store (that are really plastic - not painted, I've never had any luck with painted aquarium ornaments - they flake or bubble)
I put pvc pipes in my tank and they still rather all lotl stack under one of those " rocks" you speak of since i have a tank divider and only one rock, my two females hate me. I will have to buy a second one
Anything big enough for them to hide under or in will do as long as it's aquarium safe. I have a polystone log, terracotta pots, a slate propped up between ornaments, a little tunnel and a fake skull.
