I was considering putting in something for my axolotl to hide in if he wants. I got a 2 inch black irrigation "T" piece. Would this be a good idea? At the moment he has a couple of plants, some big-ish stones and small fake rocky outcrop thing. Do other people have similar things in their tanks as hiding spots?

Irrigation pipe may or may not be safe (I'm not sure what kind of plastic they're made of). However, if you get PVC (drinking-water safe) plastic elbows or t's, those are fine. You can also use clay pots on their side, either whole or cut in half long-way (to make a cave).

There is black PVC pipe - is that what it is?

hi
i use drain piping which i bought at a diy shop cut it into peices about the same size as my axies so they are covered i also make sure all my axies have a pipe to hide in

It did turn out to be drinking grade pvc, but problem is it floats so i think i will go with the suggestion of clay pots
