I recently bought two PVC pipes for my axolotl's. Is there anyway I should be cleaning them, to make sure it is safe for their tank?

To each his own I guess, but I'd opt for a more natural, aesthetically pleasing material. Clay pipe, terracotta plant pots (cut in half) etc. On the PVC, plastics tend to constantly leech out the materials used to make them. One of the reasons most glues won't bond plastics well. Just wash with dish soap and rinse very well. That'll at least get rid of any manufacturing residues on the surface.
