Mountains and lakes of Neila , in the north of Spain . The glaciar lakes and the forest of Pinus sylvestris/Pinus uncinata are the habitat of Triturus helveticus punctillatus and Triturus marmoratus . This specie reaches 1.800/1.900 m. of altitude in a high mountain community of amphibians , together with bufo bufo spinosus and Alytes obstetricans boscai .

this one of my favourite places to make trekking and photographs...

i didn't know that triturus helveticus got so dark in coloUration

The reason is due to the cold temperature of the water . The cold makes become this dorsal pattern dark brown , but at the middle of the summer the patern is clear and dotted ( as his subspecie name means )
