Hello everyone,

I've had axolotls for a couple of years now and have read lots of posts on this forum. This is something I have never seen before! In one of my female tanks, I have 3 girls that have developed a hole in their underside. One of the Acura, the hole is so deep her insides are coming out. While I'm unfortunately not optimistic about her survival chances, I want to try and prevent the others from deteriorating that much. Unfortunately I can't say how long the holes have been there since typically they are hidden from view. They look healthy other then that, which is what has me confused.

Temperatures are a bit high at the moment at 70 degrees F. I ran out of chemical test kits so I will post water parameters later today. It's a well established tank, so I suspect low ammonia and nitrites, and possibly higher nitrates depending on how well the plants are doing. I also inherited these axolotls from a museum. I can't accurately say the age of these girls either. When I joined the museum 6 years ago, they were full grown adults. So they are probably pretty old.

Let me know if anyone has seen anything like this. I think I got some pictures loaded in, please forgive me if there are doubles.

Here's a picture of the hole.
Hello Josh
I had an albino axie for 2 months and died from something like this (still not sure what really happened)
He was a healthy axie, very active and always hungry. His diet consisted of live earthworms and occasional salamander pellets, the water parameters were always fine, until he stopped eating for 4 days and then i noticed a hole on the side of his belly from which he started bleeding. I moved him to a "hospital tank" and i then noticed another hole under his head, and the day he died in the small tank i noticed a new hole on the back of his tail. Eventually he died and im still not sure what happened. Posted a picture below. Is she bleeding from the hole? Hope your axie gets better! and hopefully a more experienced person comes along to give some advice.
