Hi, I feed my axolotls bloodworm about every 2 days but i'm worried about what to do with them when I go on holiday at Christmas. I don't know anyone who would be able to feed them while i'm away!!! Any ideas? I'll be away for about a week? Thanks.

I wouldn't worry about leaving them for a week without food. They'll be fine.

A little off-topic since these are axolotls, but:

I have been juggling with the idea of placing black eyed beans with near-hatching beanbeetles in them. This, if prepared properly, should supply a steady amount of (terrestrial) food while you're gone.

An axolotl can go for 2 weeks w/o food, and could be left alone for this amount of time. Beyond 2 weeks seems like a bit of a stretch, and you'd probably want someone to take care of it occasionally.

Two things for other people reading this thread:

1: Don't leave axolotls below about 10 cm (4 inches) without food for as long as we've mentioned.
2: If you must leave young axolotls without food, keep them separately - otherwise they will de-leg each other.
