Hello everyone,

It's been a very long time since I've been here. I've tried searching the forum, reading journals, but cannot get my head around how much of this solution I will need.

Here's the situation:

I'm getting some holtfreter solution for a poorly bloated axolotl. I have a vet appointment Monday at the earliest to try and get him sorted but wanted to at least try these salts in the meantime to try and make him comfortable.

The question is I'm getting original salts at a 40% solution when mixed with 25 litres of water. Which is okay, I get that. When in comes to placing my large 30cm axie in the tub how much of the solution do I submerge him in? The whole 25 litres? And for how long does he stay in there for?

I don't want to get this wrong, I just want to make him comfortable. It's breaking my heart seeing him like this.

Thank you and sorry if this is a repeat. I'm just struggling with amounts etc.

Anyone able to help at all? :(

I am not really sure what you're asking (I am not familiar with holtfreter solution) but in a salt bath, your axolotl should be completely submerged in the water, part of him shouldn't be out on the surface. I mean he doesn't have to be a foot under the water but just make sure it is covering him.
If you are just doing a regular salt bath, the time is 10-15 minutes.

Hope that helps
