Hoping to get back into having newts! (Yellowknife, NWT, Canada)

Hello! My name is Seth from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada. I used to keep newts as a child. I had a few fire bellied newts and an eastern newt (red spotted). I am hoping to get back into having newts again. I would prefer to go with eastern newts. If you've got any leads on finding some, please let me know. Cheers!

Hi Seth, my story is pretty much the same as yours. I recently set up three habitats. I have purchased Iberian Ribbed, Italian Alpine, and Kaiser newts from breeders on this site. All are doing well. They are being kept aquatic with lots of plants and Zoo Med floating docks. Alpines appear to be the easiest to find at this time. I mostly feed them frozen bloodworms and spirulina frozen brine shrimp. I am keeping them in 20 gallon long tanks with sponge filters. Good luck, JT.
