Just posted this on Frogforum.net. It looks like we may be saying goodbye to the endangered Houston Toad: Endangered Houston Toad in Wildfire Disaster

Here's a follow-up article. The bad news: approximately 98% of the forest was destroyed by the fires. The good news: The Houston Zoo has approximately 2,500 individual toads, encompassing over 20 different genetic lines. There's also hope the toads were buried deep enough underground that they weren't killed directly by the fires.
