Hi

I have the tricolour frog Anthonyi or phantasml?

After having two lots of eggs which didn't hatch, I decided to scrape the last two clutches off the leaves thinking they were infertile, however in my saucer of eggs, I found two little tadpoles 1cm long, one swam under the other eggs and one stayed in the tiny bit of water I'd soaked the eggs with.

I decided to put the tadpole in a small glass filled with 2 inches of water from my fish tank. Will he be okay?

How do you tell if their ready to go into the water?

I've put a small bit of powdered high protein fish food in with him xx

Please help x

They should be fine. You can usually tell they're ready to hatch when they can swirl around completely inside their egg. What you did is essentially what I've done in the past. I'd recommend adding a few plants to oxygenate the water and absorb nitrogen, although they are by no means a necessity. Tadpoles from this species are as tough as nails.

Water at room temp and fish food are perfect. Good luck!
