How long can a tank stay cloudy?

hi ben im new to axies but have had aquariums for years and one thing ive learned is pet shops tell you anything to sell products
 
Ok.. so what do i do? do i leave the water changes? do i buy bacteria or something? Ive got to take the pebbles that are in there out tomorrow and put some big ones in, do i do that before i start worrying about the cloudy water?
 
i personaly wouldnt panic over the cloudy water it will settle eventualy it sounds like your doing the right things, for tropical aquariums ive always cycled tanks by putting gold fish in for a few weeks has always worked for me
 
Do you have your axies in there or not? If not, then don't worry about waterchanges just let your tank run without changes but with regular testing.

If you have axies in it, then do the waterchanges.

Stop using the ammolock, as Alex says your tank will settle.

If your axies are in the tank, then remove your pebbles in sections and replace with rocks accordingly; this hopefully will not disturb them as much.
 
sorry but what is the purer water stuff? is it a water conditioner/ager or dechlorinator or is it something that is meant to introduce beneficial bacteria. If the latter, then I would suggest you stop using it, as either way your tank has already started cycling and isn't going to speed it up any. If a water conditioner then keep it.

If you have the receipts for these two items, take them back to the petshop and see if they will give you a refund, say they don't work and gave the wrong information, ya never know and no harm in trying!

i agree with kapo now your tank is already cycling leave it to it at least for a little while i think youl find itl sort itself,sorry if i sound like i know all as i havnt much of a clue about axies but i asume tank cycling to be the same for tropicals if not i would be greatfull of correct info
 
Ok, the bub is only in a 1 and a half foot tank atm, need to throw out a futon so i can rearrange the room and put a 4 foot tank in there, will the axie be alright in the smaller tank while the 4 footer cycles completely, its coming up to perth summer which quite often hits 40c which is why im gettin the bigger tank and chiller...
 
..and chiller! You lucky thing; but Wellington doesn't get that hot, if we're lucky we might make 30c! U shud be able to keep your wee one in the smaller one til it cycles. Just keep an eye on the temp, if need be and it does go over 23-24+ and you can't cool it with a fan or small ice bottles of dechlorinated water, you may have to put the wee one in the fridge (min allowable temp 5c) till your bigger tank finishes cycling.

Ben what sort of chiller do you have or are you getting? Just that another aussie, Rebecca asked about chillers, and where to get them.
 
Im getting mine off ebay, pet city wanted to charge me $600 for it, theyre on ebay for about $100 and then creeping up from there, just type in the word "chiller" in www.ebay.com.au, when the items come up, click on pet supplies in the left column, cheap as chips!!!!
