Hi all! New axolotl owner here and I'm super excited!

I have two adorable leucistic juveniles about 3 inches long and breeder said they were hatched December 27, 2017.

I've been feeding them hikari bloodworms twice a day and I just started giving them a few omega one newt & salamander pellets. My question is how much should I be feeding them and am I overfeeding?

I read in a few posts that some people feed them until they stop eating, usually about half a cube, or until their stomachs are about their head size. And then there's the odd posts where they say they feed 3 bloodworms twice a day. I just don't know what to believe! Haha

Their appetite has definitely grown and together they each about half a cube each feeding, so almost a cube of hikari bloodworms a day (Sorry I don't know how many exactly as I don't keep count). I give them a few pellets here and there as a variety, Even though on the package it says to feed 3-4 pellets daily or as much as the animal can consume. Is this overfeeding?

Sorry for the long winded post.... Anyways in short: How much should I feed a juvenile axolotl?

Thanks!

I wouldn't worry too much about over feeding, as long as you're cleaning up any uneaten food. Feed until they stop eating. Post some pics when you can, I love seeing juvies!

I was worried I was overfeeding my juvenile too (he’s srill a little smaller than yours only just barely 2 inches) but it turns out he’s actually much better when he’s fed more. I tried monitoring his eating a little bit and then that lead to floating. The more he eats the happier he seems although I’ve never actually seen him stop eating lol. I wouldn’t worry too much

Here are my juvies!
The one of the left is Kiply, he has a bigger appetite and likes to float.
The one of the right is unnamed. Her right gills are smaller than her left ones for now. If you have any name suggestions I would love to hear them!

They're in this bucket for now until my tank is cycled. It's almost near the end so I'm excited!
