My four axolotls are fully grown. I was feedingca large worm once a day, but they stopped taking them everyday, so I switched to every other day, even then they don't always take them ( except my female, I think she eats them all they don't). Is one large worm every other day enough or should I give them two.every other day?

I think they look like they're a good weight, I just want to make sure

Also, I'd like to offer them "treat" foods every once in a while. I was thinking ghost shrimp and minnows. Will either of these nip the axies gills if not eaten right away?

You need to feed your axies enough that their belly is as wide as their head - one large worm every other day sounds fine.

Occasional fun-to-chase food: live shrimp - ghost, glass, cherry, guppies or minnows. They can also have maggots, waxworms and crickets.

One worm every other day sounds good to me. I feed my two big ones a large meal twice a week and little snacks a few times a week. Especially my big male sometimes refuses food for a few days, but as long as his belly is about the same width as his head I'm not worried.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
