How often should I clean newt's tank?

Just wondering, because honestly his tank hasnt been cleaned all that often.

That totally depends on what type of tank you have. There are types of tanks which you don't need to clean out more than once in a couple of years or even less. What kind of tank do you have (live plants? bottom? etc)?

Its a glass tank with water and a few sticks and large rocks for him to climb on. I replace the water semi-regularily but I'm not sure about how frequently I have to do that. I wish I had the space to get him a larger tank tbh, because right now he has a 14in by 14in tank

Than I would suggest cleaning the tank every week, by siphoning out the detritus. Do a partial water change once a week.
