How strong are axies?

hahaha i hope not!!!!
OMG IM SO CRANKY WITH MY STUPID FIBRO HOUSE!

I came home yesterday and my tank was 30degrees!!!
I don't know what to do. I HATE my house.
Its fibro so everything just heats up so quickly.
The odd thing is though, yesterday wasn't as hot as other days have been, but yet the temp was higher then the hotter days (if you know what l mean)
From what i could see with the body language of my babies, they weren't too stressed. But still, i kno that the temp should NEVER be this hight and i dont know what else i can do, so i chucked in a whole lot of ice cubes and it slowly bought the temp back down to its usual.

In good interest of my babies health, im thinking that i might have to give them away to someone who at lest has a cooler house (as stupid as it sounds).

So after all - it may just be a SOS call

sorry, i should have posted that in the "Tanks, set-ups.." thread/topic.

SORRY.

have u tried using a fan or fans blowing across the top of the tank ? i use 2x 12cm computer fans constantly blowing air across the top of the water
it makes a fair bit of difference
and have also insulated 3 sides of my tank with foam
it is very easy to rig up let me know if u want more help ?
i'm just looking for a suitable chiller to stop all this mucking around, but there not cheap

maybe you have a incorrect thermometer, is it a outside or in tank one? those stick on ones i find get affected by the temp outside the tank too much so i dont use them anymore

heya rob - all i have is a ceiling fan but i havent tried insulating with foam, maybe thats the way to go. The fans that your talking about - icould try that but im not sure that it will make much of a difference in my house - anything is worth a try though.
Yeh i do need more help lol how are the comp. fans rigged up??? OMG the chillers are anywhere near cheap - ive been researching them myself and let me tell you, i was very shocked

I really appreciate all the help l can get, thanks again

Sharn - the thermometer l have is on the inside of the tank, glass and it has a suction cap on the top is latch on to the glass. It still may be incorrect, but not far off what its reading as..
Im going to get a different thermometer anyhow coz the axies dnt stop playing with that one.

Hi Jo-leen
u can use a few different methods, but this is an easy way
happy.gif

u need something like this as ur power supply
http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/4384519c09dca7282743c0a87f9c0721/Product/View/M9646
just cut the plug off and use the wire with a line in it as + "positive" connect ur red fan wires to the wire with the white line on it and black to black make sure u use insulation tape or shrink wrap to close wires off
i used 4 pin molex plugs "computer plugs"
all i used was a usb light
"cause it has a flexible shaft" and cable tied the fans together and cable tied it to the light
i just used two plain old 12cm comp fans i had lying around, u can pick em up for about $15au ea
new or if i was buying new ones and had the spare money i would get these babies "moocho wind

u need for the top of the water to be rippling
the ceeling fan will be a bonus cause it will circulate the air in ur room

JUST MAKE SURE IT CANT FALL INTO THE TANK

Or, if you're not electronically inclined, I bought a small personal desk fan (was $6 US), tied it up to the side of my stand (pulled all the slack cord around the leg of the stand so there was NO way it could fall into the water), and propped it over the tank. Worked great in mid-summer, brought the temp down at least 5 degrees Fahrenheit.

WOW, i have a project now!! Ok, now l get the idea - thats a good idea Rob, time to start building (this is building to me lol)
rofl.gif
Thanks SO much!!! The pic really helps alot, l had a different idea of where the fans were before l saw the pic. Im excited now!!

Yeh, i thought of that too Joan. I think that ill use a fan as you do, in the mean time - while im working on the computer fans rob suggested.

Thanks very much guys!!! I'll let you kno how it all goes.

mines a bit of a dodgy setup but it does the job
happy.gif

and is relatively safe being 12v.
u can even run it off ur computer if it close enough to the tank
happy.gif

if u have the room probably one of those small desk fans would be even better, as Joan mentioned...

glad to of helped
