My little axolotl is not looking good... Found him this morning upside down on the sand and my hang on the back filter stopped working. Luckily he was alive and I gently pushed him topside up. I fed him some tubifex worms which is what he usually eats. I feed him every other day and I do 30% tank changes every 3 days. He was showing no signs of stress yesterday so I was really confused, as his gills were facing forward which I know is a sign of stress. So I did a 70 percent water change and changed most of the sand to make sure no waste was in it and there was a little bit underneath it. So right now I'm changing his water more constantly, adding more variety to his diet and I just gave him some antibacterial medicine. I can't move him to my 20 gallon with my other axie because he's still too small and will be eaten. So I want to prevent any fungal infections to make sure he's going to stay healthy. Can someone tell me step by step on how to give a tea bath to an axolotl, I have a box of organic black tea and do I need a working filter for it? Also, it would help if someone could help me figure out why he's so stressed and how to fix it. The tank temperature was fine, he's been eating, and water conditions were good. Thanks for reading this long block of information!
