Hello all.

here is my situation.
I have a friend who is wanting to travel from Christchurch (i'm in new zealand, btw) to dunedin (for international people, the trip takes approximately five hours) in a few days. she would like to know what the safest way to transport the axolotl is not entirely sure, but i think it's still a baby. two limbs or less. she will be traveling by bus.

i suggested putting it in a container with plenty of live food, with the container being about half full of water an maybe covering it with a cloth to keep it dark. and also, to try and keep the container upright and try not to move it too much.

any kind suggestions or corrections would be appreciated:)

She'll need to pack it in a cooler to prevent it from getting to warm. The larger the container, the longer it takes to warm up. Also, filling the container with water all the way will prevent sloshing.

What Justin said. I make frequent five hour trips for my college breaks, and I just pack my axies in tupperware and go. It should be a bit longer than their body and wide enough for them to turn around. Preventing sloshing is hard, but fill them up full and wrap the tub in something like a towel. It's easy to snugly put tubs between luggage, that way they don't move around. Don't put in food, they won't eat it on the way, or they'll vomit. It'll just dirty up their water for no reason. They'll be stressed for a day or so and may not eat, but they'll get over it. Mine do! Don't worry about it.
