Hi there i aint posted for a long while but i was wondering what is the easiest way to feed earthworms ? As my toads don't feed from tweezers or hands :( and everytime i feed on the substrate the worms always did into it or the crawl into the moss :S any help will be greatly appriciated :):)

Try placing the worm on a piece of slate or other surface that they can't burrow into when you feed. If your animals are exceptionally shy you can place that slate piece in front of their common hide.

Thanks

Thanks for responding :) i will try this method and see how it goes :D

Two more suggestions: 1) Feed the toads in a container separate from their regular tank (a plain bare plastic tub, sprayed with a bit of water, for example). or 2) Chop the worm into pieces. They don't crawl nearly as far as the whole worm does:eek:

thanks for responding, i will also try these methods :)

I cut a lid from a yogurt tub into quarters or for small tanks use a lid from a small rubbermaid container. There is a size for condiments that works great. It has a decent lip and the worms seem to stay put unitl set upon.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
