Yesterday I started thinking about raising a salamander and today, while loading some rugs into a pickup a little Taricha showed up. At first I moved him towards the creek but later I decided that he probably wouldn't make it cause the creek was dry and his rug wasn't available to hide under any more.

There aren't a lot of these guys in our creek any more, kinda sucky. I was going to make a walk-way / garden and was thinking that i could dig out an area for a pond that is connected to the creek so some granulosas might start spawning again. I think the current has been too rough for them to hang on lately. Or everyone caught 'em all. =(

Welcome to the forum. I think it's a great idea to build a pond for them! If there is one left, there are undoubtedly others, and improving their habitat certainly can't hurt.

For inspiration, read about Operation Frog Pond:

Oh neat!

Thank you very much for the link and feedback, I'll let you know if I start a project. I want to have something ready for next season. =)
