Hi everyone,
My name is Sarah. I teach pre-school in southern california. I became interested in newts and frogs in junior high-school (middle school), got a tank with FBT's & FBN's (japanese), had them for 10 years or so and ended up giving them to a friend of my mothers (who still has the newts). I never had any problems with them during that time. I had no idea that they lived so long! They've got to be over 25 years old by now.

I just got a tank for my classroom about 3 weeks ago. I bought 2 FBT's and 2 FBN's (again japanese). The kids are really enjoying them (almost as much as I am hahahaha). Glad to have found a group where I can get some information. The pet store where I bought them seems pretty clueless. The newts appear to have something wrong with them but I will post more about that in a different place. Thanks for letting me be a part of this group!

Welcome, Sarah. It's always nice to hear about teachers with amphibians in the classroom.

I am so excited to be able to share these animals with my class. They are already learning so much for such tiny kids.
