Hi. So basically, my axolotl has been sick lately and I've been trying to fix her through numerous methods over the duration of the last few days. She was floating so I fridged her for a while but then once I called a vet they had just told me to put her back in her tank with certain adaptations for her condition (as the fridging wasn't helping). So I did exactly what they told me and she seemed to be getting better as her hind legs were no longer floating and she seemed able to touch the ground and as if she was getting more colour again. The only strange thing was that she had a bump on her side, I had assumed it had something to do with air in her stomach from having floated for so long and I needed to go to school so I didn't thing any further into it. Once I got home I checked on her straight away but she isn't moving and her nose is sticking out of the water, its pinkish red and her hind legs are limp, also her gills are more frayed than they were before, but she still has colour in her tail and she isn't floating so I don't know if she's dead.
Someone please help me, I have no idea what to do anymore.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
