I don't know what I've done but I've lost everything

Unscented bleach is fine, you can use it as an ammonia source to start cycling an aquarium.

Sorry if I wasn't clear... Everything in my house is unscented :p

If you are confident enough to sell it once you are done, then you should keep it...
If this baby has a healthy life, then you'll know how much you have learned, and you will have beat this thing ;)

Thanks everyone :) I'll have to post pictures once Houdini is in his new setup, I don't know if he'll be in the 3 or 4 foot but we'll probably keep the spare anyway. 2ft is gonna be refurbished into a guppy or maybe shrimp tank. At least he'll look nice against my fancy white sand that I haven't had a chance to put in the tanks yet!

I'll definitely wait to see how Houdini does before getting any more axies, at least a couple of months. Probably longer. See how we go, I don't really want a repeat but I think it's sunk in to the brother that you don't just shove stuff in my tank without telling me!

I'm so sorry. I've been hanging around here for as about as long as you have, and I know for sure that you've done your research and know what you are doing from your posts. You've been nothing but helpful on this forum to other users.

I'm sorry for your loss and for the inappropriate actions of other members.

Have fun with your shrimp or guppy tank, those are fun to watch and create! : ) Give Houdini lots of wormies!

This forum is full of highly experienced amphibian keepers who can accurately give advice to causes and treatments to most problems which occur in this section. If you wonder why only a handful actually bother to post , this includes the majority of the mods btw, its because of threads like this. The original poster has lost six out of seven axolotls in the six months or so since she has been on the site. The latest fatality being blamed on a plant........ The most likely cause of this massive mortality rate is inappropriate care, nothing more nothing less. Axolotls are a very easy amphibian to keep alive and healthy if kept properly, if not they die like flies.
What has the original poster learnt from this thread ? The answer is nothing as she refuse to listen to the obvious answer that she is responsible and is destined to repeat the same mistakes as this is too unpalatable for her to accept. I am sure this mostly fall on deaf ears and will be marked down as "inappropriate " and "unhelpful" as my previous posts, so I will leave you all to enjoy your group hug and mutual appreciation society and you're mysteriously dying pets.

I'm not saying you're wrong, and I'm not saying we're right, but you have to take into consideration the facts here. It's obvious Quentari has taken care of her axolotls as best as she could. Why is it so hard to believe that a plant was the reason for the deaths of her animals? You know it is very possible for diseases to be carried on aquarium plants like the one that may be to blame in this case. To me, it sounds very much like a viral infection which started with the fish in the tank the plant was originally in, and when the plant was transferred to the axolotls' tank it spread to the animals there and caused them to die. I understand why you're being so firm in your belief, but you can't rule out this "unlikely factor" in favor of slinging mud on another party. This just makes you sound...well, to put it bluntly, it makes you sound very unprofessional and stubborn. If you want to help, you need to actually be patient and take the time to hear the story behind the incident, instead of just jumping the gun and blaming everything on improper care, which there is no sign of in this case.

Whoever gave me bad rep for commenting on this thread saying to clean the tank with a vinegar water mix and that i agreed with another persons post, that was not bad advice and i cant see why you would disagree, which is what the button is for.
