:D:D:D Ambystoma tigrinum tigrinum, the eastern tiger salamander. His name is Godzilla, and we named him appropriately, because he has already eaten five crickets in the four days we have owned him. His snout-vent length is 4 inches, and snout vent length is five. I can't wait until he grows, when he will be able to eat whole earthworms!

Congrats.
No need to wait to feed earthworms, he is beg enough to eat them now. Just chop them up into smaller pieces.
And I think you meant to say "His snout-vent length is 4 inches, and his total length is five" ;)

Do you have any pictures?

Yes he's plenty big enough for nightcrawlers. Aaron (Thosenewtsthough) would recommend chopping them and leaving them in a non metallic dish. Once he learns where the food is he'll amuse you by begging for more as soon as he sees you.

I do, but I have to download them off of a phone, and then post them. I will try to tonight though.

:DPics as promised!:D

The lack of color on the side of it kind of makes me feel like its not well, has it shown ay unusual behavior at all?

No, he has eaten five crickets, and has burrowed under his substrate. He might have burrowed into the sand layer for drainage like he did once , but otherwise, he seems great.(EDIT he comes up every night too)

And it could also possibly be that he was a recent waterdog morph. He apparently just absorbed the remainder of the gill stubs and his adult coloration isn't in yet

And in addition to its coloration, it could use some fattening up, and the staple shouldn't be crickets, it should be smaller whole or chopped worm, mines not super large but it can still eat some pretty large nightcrawlers.

I know about the earthworms and I want to go get some today, and at the latest, I will get them on Friday when we get the animals food. And when I was looking at him he was a olive greenish coloration, with weird stripes so could he be a color morph? When I was looking at him when we finished feeding our dogs, and when we fed him, he looked, and acted healthy. Also, his personality is great, so is he sick? I will watch him a lot tonight to see if his symptoms show.

For tigers theres usually not a whole lot of "color morphs", they rarely show up.
But I know that different species/subspecies of tigers have different coloring, Eastern Tigers (A. t. tigrinum) often have olive green-goldish stripes. Though there isn't really anything that has a lack of color on just one area of the body, which makes me think that it isn't at top health

We will continue to monitor him and feed him earthworms. Also, I an not sure, but could we feed him earthworms we find when it rains? Because the last time it rained, ( which was before we got him just so you know ) the're were like ten on our sidewalk, so the next time it rains could I collect some to feed him?

You can as long as the place you're getting them from doesn't use stuff like pesticides and stuff.

We don't use pesticides in our yard so they should be okay

Also, if you collect them on roads then you need to make sure you rinse them very thoroughly, as they can have car oils etc. on them.

Also, if Godzilla is sick, what are some symptoms of illness, so I can prevent it if he is sick?

I don't think he is sick. I think he was probably raised in bad conditions and fed foods that had poor amounts of nutrients. This can lead to discoloration. Feed him foods that have high amounts of carotene. Hikari Cichlid gold fish food is a good one. You can dust it on his normal food ( which should be worms ) or soak them in water until they are soft, and feed them whole ( if they are the smaller size ). They cannot be the staple diet though, only feed them with regular food, and don't feed to often, only once every third feeding maybe. This will increase his colors. -Seth

Aren't carotenes only to get the orange color, I don't think it would help get a black and greenish yellow coloration lol
