I really like your substrate, where did you get it? I am in the market for something new since all my sand disintegrated into my tank and messed with my calcium levels. Thanks!

How do you tell them apart!?

They're gorgeous, Kira

I bought the sand at Bunnings (I don't know what the US equivelant is). 1kg bag for $2.99AUD, (1 purple bag and 1 white bag). I know it was expensive but I thought it looked good. Can't wait until I get my big tank (hubby is making it for Christmas), then I will add 2 more bags of white and 1 of purple.

How do you tell them apart!?

They are really easy to tell apart surprisingly!! Slimey is 2cm bigger (and much fatter) then Squishy! Not sure why they are growing at different rates (they are from the same 'litter'?), but they are both healthy enough, so I'm not worried!! Maybe its because Slimey is such a guts!:D

Absolutely gorgeous axolotls Kira.

You'll be able to tell them apart with no problems - there will be the special swish of the tail, the twinkle in the eye, the lumbering gait that will identify which is which ;).

You've got a good eye for taking photos of axolotls! Great shots.

The two last pictures are possibly my favorite axie pics I've ever seen!

Hi Kira. They are such little darlings. How old are they?

Great photos Kira - you have caused me so much trouble...... now chelsea (chelsbels) wants a purple substrate too !

Thanks

I got all excited when I clicked on this thread, and then I thought to myself that squishy and slimey still look really tiny, and all those pictures looked very familiar. Your tank looks exactly the same as well... :p I'll try and be patient while I'm waiting for new ones, lol. No more trickery though!

Ok ok Neke. Give me an hour to take photos then, eh?!

Oh and Paul, she would love it now!! There is pink sand too!!

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
