My axolotl has poop sticking out in her anus region for about a day. both her back legs are up right and not touching the ground. she's not floating though. Is she constipated? and what should i do?

pop her in the fridge, should sort it in no time :)

nps glad to hear it :) I think 9 times out of 10 if there is anything wrong, pop em in the fridge and hey presto! One of mine looked on his last legs the other day, I popped him in the fridge until I could get some advice and he seems ok now :D

how long should you keep them in the fridge and do you feed them while they are in there??

that depends on what it's for. in your case i'd say a week until, hopefully, it passes the potentially fatal gravel it has probably chowed down. 5 minutes after your axie is in the fridge, get rid of the gravel forever and when you put the little beastie back in his tank he'll be much happier and healthier and you'll have the contented feeling of being a responsible pet owner.

Instead of posting new thread I'll write here as it is a similar problem!

Klaus hasn't pooped for 10 days now, he usually poops once a week. The longest time without poop was 8 days I feed him one to two medium size worms every other day. He's about 18cm long the water temp is about 17 and parameters fine. He doesn't eat sand (once he tried and spat it out with disgust) no other things to be swollowed in the tank.

He is not swollen, floaty or straining looks and behaves normally and begs for food

What can I do? Is it ok? Do I continue to feed him as usual? Or just wait for poo? Help please I'm worried :( my fridge is not stable and can freeze at times do its not an option? Should I stop feeding him and cool the tank even more?

Chances are he's just pooping where you can't see it. When you do your water change, start picking up things in the tank, and I guarantee you'll find more poo dust than you think.

Thing is I do daily water changes as my tank is settling still, so the bottom is cleaned every day and I'm lifting all ornaments out every other day and clean the surface of the sand then move it around so I'd see a poo. I know Klaus very well now and I know u just can't miss his poo as it'll b a black patch on the sand and his poops r quite solid and I'd even notice them of they broke down cuz of the conrast.
As much as I'd like to find some consolation in your message I strongly believe he hasn't pooped :( he looks ok and quite active today. Temp is round 16

try him in the fridge for a few days... if he's eating normally it has to come out somewhere and this will speed things up!

I can't put him in the fridge my fridge is not working properly and the temp is freezing and sometimes freezes food and liquid

UPDATE!!!! Klaus has pooped!!!! Loads :) it 'only' took him a month! :0 all this time he was acting normal and ate, didn't fridge him as this would mean killing him but the nature took care of it :) no foreign objects in poo and temp was very low so I'm guessing that's how he is :) it was a great relief for both of us tho ;)

What do you mean "killing him"! I have my Axolotl in the fridge right now, he hasn't pooped and is a little bloated, should I take him out???
