So I think I have a problem, and was wondering if any of you other caudate lovers share it with me. I buy tanks on impulse - any size tank, whether I have a use for it or not. Right now I have a 10g, 3 20g, a 40g, and the newest - don't know how many gallons but the dimensions are 15.5W x 17H x 48L inches. Honestly, it didn't seem that big until I had to get it in my jeep and it took up the whole backseat. And how many of these tanks am I using at the moment? Two, the 10g and one of the 20's. But you never know when you will need another tank, right? I guess I will continue to check out yard sales and thrift stores, where you can get them so cheap around here it's almost criminal not to purchase them! Am I the only one out there with this problem, or are there others that could form some kind of support group with me?

Hi Heather. You would love a store that's in Martinsburg, WV. They sell used aquariums. It's awesome. Unfortunately for your upcoming support group, I don't buy them on impulse. But I always go in to drool.

I used to live on campus at my college and only had a 10 gallon and a 5 gallon. I had HUGE hopes for when I got my apartment. I was going to set up a 125 gallon for my two taricha granulosas (and then get more, of course, to add to the tank). But alas, I ended up getting a pretty small apt. and the landlord doesn't want me to have "a large tank".

So, I'm bummed

But I do get excited over them when I see great deals. Good luck with your problem!

well I am young (only 16) but I have a tank fetish!!!!!!! I always love going into thrift stores and garage sells to find tanks....

....the biggest tank that I found was a 45 gallon tank for only 20 bucks!!!!!!

This last tank that I bought - the unknown gallon capacity - was only $20, too, Christopher. It's amazing to me how much new tanks go for, in the 100's of dollars range, and people just sell them for practically nothing! It really is too bad they are so cheap. I'm such a penny pincher that if they asked for what the tank was worth I probably would'nt buy it.

If I lived in an area where there were a lot of yard sales, I'd be joining that 12-step program with you, Heather. Here in the boonies, I don't have much opportunity for this addiction.

One thing I have noticed, though, is that used 10-gallon tanks are almost always overpriced. People selling them don't seem to realize you can get a brand new one for $10.

You're lucky... imagine trying to find used aquariums in Alabama. But I need to join as well, 4 aquariums in one house... only two rooms without one. 2 55s, 1 29g and 1 10g.

Well im only 15 and but i love looking at the big brand new aquariums with stands and thinking about how good they would look in my house but unfortunatly i dont have the money for them till i get a job here pretty soon but i have a 5g a 10g a 20g and a 55g right now im using the 5 and 10 and 55 but im goin to tranfer everything out of my 5 to the 20 for a fire bellied newt tomorrow!

Karin, that's nothing. I've got 6 salamander tanks with animals (soon to be 8, as I'm adopting some more), as well as 5 snake enclosures.

I've got a 55gal, 40 gal, 3 20 gals, 1 2.5 gal, adding 1 10gal and 1 20 gal, and the snakes are in a 30gal, a 40 gal, and a couple custom built Vision-esque tanks.

What you need are friends that are both rich and can't keep a commitment. I have five tanks and I got them all for free because either my brother or my neighbor or my friends got sick of their fish and decided they didn't want them anymore. (of course none is above 20 gallons, but the price is right!) If only I could say the same for musical instruments and records.
