Mika died today of a fungus infection I didn't notice early enough. Here are a few pictures to remember him by. He was such a cute, funny little axie. :) :(

There are some pictures of him fairly recently and some from about a year ago when he was only little and we first got him.

Aww, he was indeed a cute little one. I was following the story of his final few days in the thread that you made and it does seem that you did everything that you could. I am sorry for your loss.

Aw I know, he was gorgeous.
Thanks for your kind words. :)

Mika was buried in my back garden today, R.I.P.

Awwwww :-( Bless Mika. It's always so sad when an axie dies. I'm sorry for your loss. He was a beautiful creature. Put a little flower on his grave from me.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
