Infusoria

My infusoria cultures have mold growing in them, I am assuming this is unsafe to put in the Larval aquarium, and am boiling more lettuce. Am I right?

they got the mold after three days which is how long it said to wait before the infusoria would be collected. should I wait two days, or . . . what?

Hi Patrick,
What are you using the infusoria for? Lots of stuff can start out on baby brine, chopped blackworms, or small daphnia.

I'm using it for some T. karelenii larvae, they just started hatching and my brine shrimp eggs haven't arrived yet, they should get here wednesday. I just wanted to make sure my larvae didn't starve before they got here.

If two hatched saturday, and three hatched today (and it looks like more will hatch by tonight), do you think their yolks will last long enough to wait for the brine shrimp? (which I am guessing will be ready by thursday or friday depending on how fast they hatch)

I have made a batch of infusoria before to feed newt larvas as their first food with out any problems! But with out any mold!

The first hatched would be pretty hungry by the time they get the brine shrimp. I normally start feeding 2 or 3 days after hatched. Unless the infusoria is all mold I think I'd get the mold out of the way and use the rest or use pond water.
