Back in mid august I was packing up some T. marmaratus juveniles to take to the Daytona expo. The container that I put them in was defective and the lid would not stay on. Unfortunately I only realized this after a few had escaped. I recovered all but two. One I later found in a spider web and the other was MIA. The container was sitting on one of my 40 gal breeders that houses one of my T. shanjing groups. Last night while feeding the shanjings I found the juvie marm, apparantly unharmed, walking around in the enclosure with the shanjings. Who says that you cannot mix species:)

Oh my gosh!!!! That's such a great story, glad to hear you found the juvie mark unharmed. Funny how things seem to work out favourably sometimes. :)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
