Hi all ... I learned about this community during a Kingsnake chat, and finally signed up last night. Among my diverse managerie are a few young Alpine newts, and I'm looking to add more species in the coming months. In the past I've kept Japanese firebellies, Eastern and California newts, and a couple of wild-caught tiny salamanders for brief times.
My username is a tribute to a beloved California newt whom I kept when I was a young girl of about 12. I've been scouring the internet looking for this species again, but no one seems to have them anymore. They used to be very common in pet stores. Like so many other species who used to be commonly available, and now are not. It's sad ... it makes me think I really need to keep breeding what I have, even if it seems "common" at the moment, just in case.
Anyway ... don't know how super-active I will be here (I am more of a snake person than anything else; I also breed sighthounds who keep me busy!), but I will definitely browse the classifieds and look in on the forums from time to time. Glad to see that this community exists!
