Recently I got a new axolotl, a small golden albino. Eventually, I want to be able to have it live in a tank with my two original axolotls, who are 8 and 9 inches long. Those two get along extremely well, always in the same corner of the tank lying near or sometimes on top of each other (that's one of my favorite things to see haha). Due to the fact that when I got the second one they were already both relatively large (each about 6 inches or so), the whole cannibalistic phase wasn't really an issue for us. This new axolotl, however, is only about 3 inches long, which I believe is still in the "risky" size range. I've seen SO much controversy on what is the proper and safe size to introduce a baby to live in a community tank. I want them all to be together, but don't want to risk the safety of my older lotls. What is a safe size to introduce them at?
