Hello guys! Some of our month old baby yellow albinos axolotls have very clear iridophores on all of their gills, and on their bellies when you flash a light on them. They aren't found in any of our other fry- even on our other albinos. We can't really find any information on whether or not iridophores are common in fry, and leave as they develop adulthood- or whether or not once you see them in the gills it stays through development. We are wondering because it's soon time to find them homes, and dont want to show this to people, and have it be something that commonly disappears into adulthood.

Do you guys know if they will grow to have them as permanent iridophores pigmentation, or is this normal in fry? If any of you have experience with this through rearing- It would really help!

Thank you for all your input! :3

So this is just an observation from my axolotls, but I've seen the iridiphores stay on the gills at least to juvenile stage (3-4 inches) but its much less striking than when they were babies.
