Hi!

I just made this because i'm simply wondering.

Are my axolotls stressed?

I know the symptoms but i cant tell because the gills are curled sometimes but not always and the tails never curl.

Are your axolotls doing anything that gives you the idea they are stressed? I don't see anything wrong with their gills and at this size it is not unusual to see them tilt their gills forward a bit. However, your temp is a little high, you may want to try to get it down to between 16-19. It looks like you have a hood, you could drop a degree or two possibly by removing that and using a screen top. A fan blowing across the surface would help too.

Are your parameters all good? Is that a heater your leucistic is sitting on?

Cute!! I love them at this size - so curious and always busy! :D

The tank used to house 4 african catfishes and a pleco.

i have left the heater unplugged because the luestic likes the climb up the bottom of it like spiderman hanging on or sit on top it and try to turn the dial of how hot it is XD

At the moment im working on getting a powerpack for a computer fan i have spare.

I want to leave the hood how it is because my cat goes on top and if i had screen he would fall in or put his paw through and try to get the axies.

When the cat was smaller he used to run up and down the side of the tank and my luestic would chase him lol

I can however leave my lid open when my cat isnt in here.

You can make a screen inexpensively to replace the lid. Stretch some window screen onto a wooden frame. That would keep the cat out without trapping warmth in the tank.

Here in the US I can get Metal screened tops with a hinge or plastic "screen" tops that lift off pretty cheaply. You have to punch a few holes but they will definitely keep your Axolotls from eating your cat.
A fan ( I bought a "personal" fan for 6 bucks) on top really lowers the temperature quite well. I have a couple of computer fans too... but I couldn't get a power supply cheaper than the 6 dollar fan and it moves a LOT more air.
The animals look good to me too. I think your substrate is interesting as well.

I dont think my axolotl can eat my cat lol

I will put a few holes in it with drill then also the hood is curved at 50 degrees so a screen would be annoying to make.

I made a digital axolotl :)

Hey i made a digital axolotl!

Ty for your help everyone :)

I cant seem to edit my previous post? :S

Anyway.

The substrate is some expensive silica sand that I also use in my polytherus palmas palmas tank and it comes in a HUGE bag so I figured just to re-use that instead of going and buying playsand which is what people recommended.

The silica sand is alot finer and alot nicer :)

Looks ok to me - personally I find it tricky to tell signs of stress solely from gills, since long gills on Axies seem to flop forwards slightly anyway? I'd only be worried if there were some other indications of stress... if you stay vigilant, maintain your tank well & check water parameters regularly then you'll be fine

P.S. Cool SPORE video lol :D
