one of my guys has been showing signs of constipation again on and off over the last couple of weeks so he's gone in the fridge. His appetite has been as ravenous as ever - he just looked very uncomfortable from time to time.

Anyway, checking in on him this morning his gills looked so pale! And a little small - though i suppose that's because there's not as much blood in there? I just wanted to check if this is normal when they're being fridged.

thanks!

Yes this is completely normal and should be expected due to the decreased amount of blood flow.

That's a relief! Thanks :D

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
