I feared as much - I agree with Olivia above that you should be taking the advice offered seriously.

Please understand that your pets are very fragile creatures who are not disposable... IF you treat them well they can live for many many years - even outliving most dog breeds :D we are privileged to be able to "own" such an amazing creature & we HAVE TO do all we can to keep its life happy & healthy, not just barely surviving & suffering for its life.

I understand its not easy to get everything you need to keep a pet when you're just a teenager - but think about asking friends & relatives for certain items you need for birthday & as presents - your first request should be for a testing kit ASAP, perhaps you could offer to do chores around the house to pay for the kit :) just an idea ;)

Nikki's post is a very good one. I'm a teenager too. I have axolotls and frogs. :frog: (This is my favourite simile)

To save a bit of money you can get a little creative with the decor. I'm using my mum's old casserole dish as my frogs swimming pool and using some terracotta pots as axie hides. That way you don't have to spend money on expensive pet shop ornaments and use the money to buy stuff which you should 'cut corners' on like water testing kits.

I'm sorry if you feel we've been mean - please understand that we get frustrated when we don't think you understand how much we want to help your axolotls :) it's because we all love them very much.

I have also explained that I understand when you are young you don't always have the money to buy everything you need to look after a pet properly. We have also now got at least 3 people that will donate the money to send you a proper water testing kit so that you can check the water weekly (or when there is a problem) & know exactly what the water levels are - the quicker you know that, the faster you can help your axies :D

Stay here & learn as much as you can to keep your axies happy :) you will learn much!

Perhaps you should show your parents this thread.
I have a fourteen year old son, he is soooo good on the computer, I bet that happens in your place too.
I am sure that if my son asked me to read this information I would buy him the test kits. Your parents probably don't know why you need them.

She told where can u find it and she told it was just waste of money thinking its useless because she's thinking that it's care is same as a fish (that easy) but no , she just wont believe and also where do i get a test kit? ( i cannot find any!!!!!!!!)

Let your parents know that the Axolotl is not a fish and has special needs. I know it can be hard to explain. I'll find an Axolotl care sheet and send you the link in a message. They can read it and it may help them understand more. It is really good that you want to help your Axolotl and we are all happy to help you.

im just having a bad feeling about it , my mother will be impossible to make her buy that T_T and also just wondering if the axie gills have been gone , will it metamorph?
 
Unfurtunately i dont think it will morph, i think if you dont figure out what is stressing him out he may not last long
Also please dont tell me you are trying to metamorph your axie on purpose :( you are likely to kill him in the process. Its to stressful on them.
 
Even if your mother won't let you buy it, multiple people have offered to ship you one, free of charge.
 
Hi Jerome, I hope its OK that I post here after messaging you yesterday so everyone knows whats happening.

Yesterday we spoke and Jerome didn't realise that he could use his tap water with ager in the tank. He's been using clean pond water and cycled aquarium water so this is probably part of the problem. Feel free to correct me Jerome if I say the wrong thing.

Jerome's mum has now agreed to let something be posted to their place. I've offered to buy it for Jerome and he is happy to be getting it now. Does anyone know a supplier that can send to the Philippines reasonably fast? I read a post somewhere and a supplier was suggested. I found someone and have messaged him but have not got a reply yet.
