I have made a post on Reddit but I figured i would ask here too. I brought home today a 4 month old axolotl. I have owned them in the past but not for about 10 years.
I'm quite worried because he keeps making these jerry movements, almost like he would if he was eating. He's only been in the tank a little over 3 hours. Ive tried my best to capture on camera.
Parameters are all okay. Ammonia and Nitrite are both 0 and nitrates are between 10-20, hard to tell on the colour chart.
Its been suggested that the sand could be an issue but its a very fine sand and was advised it would be ok. ( I did keep them on sand years ago). I dont really want to pull up all the sand in case it causes issues but obviously I want what's best. I could be panicking over nothing but I'm concerned.
