Two days ago my axolotl Otachi stopped eating which worried me as she always came to me whenever i walked past the tank hoping to be fed. Every attempt to feed her ended with her spitted the nightcrawlers back out, so i made sure to keep a close eye on her. Juts today I noticed a huge pimple-like growth on her head. I've done some research and the growth resembles an abscess. I can not go the the vet because there are no vets that specialize or even know what an Axolotl is around Vancouver. Right now Otachi is in the fridge but Im worried it might not go away with fridging. If you can please let me know if it is an abscess or not, what I can do to treat it and how my axolotl got it in the first place so I can prevent it from happening again. axo 3.jpg

I would strongly advise you to contact your local vet and ask them who treats exotics.

If there is no one local then this is what I would do. Ask them for their email so that you can send them these photo's, this will enable the vet to be prepared and to have been able to consult maybe a known exotics vet. When you email them to them, provide them with as much information as possible. I suspect that this is an abscess and this is not something that you can treat yourself at home.
