COMMON NAME: Schlegel's Green Tree Frog
SCIENTIFIC NAME: Rhacophorus schlegelii

(I'm not 100% sure on this and one person has suggested that one or more of the following frogs are in fact Hyla japonica)

Wow! That toad is just lovely with all that red! Ditto for the others-many of which look quite similar to American species.

Thanks ya'll. I'll continue this thread with some frog pics taken in the central-western prefecture of Hyogo. I don't know much about frogs so I'll post the pics first and identify the species later with some help

This was found strategically located next to an insect-attracting outdoor light (as were a number of spiders and their webs).

Very nice, a;lthough im not sure on the species. The treefrog near the light looks to be hyla japonica again, but i know very little about japanese frogs, probably about as much as whats been posted on this topic!
Very good pics too. I'd love to be able to see frogs in the wild like that

Here's another Bufo japonicus formosus found at night in the garden of a friends' house in central Tokyo. There's were lots of them in fact, and since there are no known water bodies in their area, it's a mystery as to where they breed.

These were less colorful one than the one from Fukushima Prefecture shown above, Namely, this one here:

I'm told the ones with red coloration are found in mountainous areas.

I'll start by introducing some frogs and toads found mostly in and around rice paddies during a recent trip to Fukushima Prefecture in northern Japan.
