Greetings,
in my quest for pretty live plants for my newties I keep running into Java fern. It's pretty much the only plant commonly available in decent condition here in Alaska pet shops.

Will Java fern be able to grow in a cold water newt tank? Water is about 60 F in summer and about 50 F during fall/winter...

cheers Claudia

Java fern is actually one of the best plants for caudate aquariums. It thrives with low light, perfectly tolerates colder temps, and as a plus, females of many species find the leaves perfect for egg deposition.
